24 HOURS IN MILAN

"Milan is a true metropolis: strong and fearless but welcoming, too. Little by little, I came to realize that I could become someone here." –Giorgio Armani

WHERE TO STAY:

We literally only had 24 hours in Milan so we wanted to stay in the center of town, right across from the Duomo. I was afraid it was going to be a nightmare since we like to avoid staying in touristy areas but to my surprise, it didn't feel congested at all. For such a big city, Milan felt like a small town. So pleasant.

WHAT TO DO, SEE AND EAT:

With limited of time and jet lag getting the best of us, we were only able to check off a few things from our list but the two most notable and worthy of your time must-sees is Duomo di Milano (get the fast track tickets) and The Last Supper (reservations are a must and you can not view it without signing up for at tour). The Duomo has been on my bucket list to photograph for years and it did not disappoint. The Last Supper painting caught me by surprise as I didn’t expect to be so moved by it but seeing Leonardo Da Vinci's original work (preserved through the years) was so memorizing. Aside from that, we spent our day walking to each destination and trying to soak in as much of Milan as we could.

As for food, the only notable spot we ate at is Tokuyoshi. Yogi was once the sous chef to Massimo Bottura and after a decade at one of the world’s best restaurant, he opened up his very own spot in Milan. I would highly recommend spending one meal here. It was the perfect blend of Japanese meet Italian. We would definitely go back.
